NBC's fall lineup includes a plethora of new series with some big stars. Here's a look at fourteen shows premiering on NBC this fall.

State of Affairs, Mondays 10/9c

Katherine Heigel is returning to TV as top CIA analyst Charleston Tucker, the woman responsible for debriefing the president on the most sensitive national security issues of the day. Tucker not only has a high-pressure job, but she also has a complicated personal relationship with the president's family, having formerly been engaged to the President's son before he was killed in a terrorist act that Tucker is still working to get to the bottom of. The African-American female president, Constance Payton, is played by Desperate Housewives' Alfre Woodard. The show premieres on November 17.

Marry Me, Tuesdays 9/8c

Marry Me is a romantic sitcom starring Casey Wilson of Happy Endings and Ken Marino of Eastbound and Down as a happily in love couple that wants to get married, but can't seem to get their engagement quite right. After being inseparable for six years, Annie and Jake take a romantic tropical vacation, after which he plans to propose. When he doesn't pop the question during the vacation, upon return Annie yells at him for being too afraid to commit and his proposal is ruined. They then decide to put off getting engaged until they can figure out the perfect moment. The show premieres October 14.

The Mysteries of Laura, Wednesdays 8/7c

The Mysteries of Laura stars Will and Grace's Debra Messing as an NYPD homicide detective, a role that's a far cry from the funny interior decorator she's best known for. Detective Laura Diamond must balance her tough day job with her family life raising two kids and trying to get her soon-to-be-ex husband to sign their divorce papers in what NBC is describing as a "hilariously authentic look at what it really means to be a 'working mom' today." You can catch the first episode on September 24.

Bad Judge, Thursdays 9/8c

Bad Judge is about a respected criminal court judge who spends her free time partying and playing drums in a rock and roll band. Judge Rebecca Wright, played by Grey's Anatomy's Kate Walsh, is known for her tough and unorthodox rulings that have made her one of Los Angeles's most well-known judges. That same tough and unorthodox behavior can lead to trouble outside the courtroom, though, until the 8-year-old son of two people that Wright sent to jail ends up needing her help and might be the one thing that ends her wild child ways. The series premieres on October 2.

Constantine, Fridays 10/9c

Constantine is based on the popular DC comicHellblazer, about a demon hunter named John Constantine who helps protect the Earth from the evildoers of Hell. AConstantine movie made starring Keanu Reaves in 2005 wasn't very well received among fans of the comics, but maybe the show will remain more authentic to the source material. Constantine is a hard-boiled character with sharp wit who works to save humans from supernatural forces of evil for the possibility of saving his own soul from damnation. Criminal Minds' Matt Ryan stars as the titular occult master and the show premieres on October 24.

A to Z, Thursdays 9:30/8:30c

A to Z is another romantic sitcom starring How I Met Your Mother's titular mother Cristina Milioti as a straight-laced lawyer named Zelda who meets Andrew when she comes in for an interview at the online dating company where he works after the site sets her up with a bad match. The show's premise is pretty similar to How I Met Your Mother, taking a look at a specific relationship from a unique angle, all the while including coworkers and side characters. Andrew and Zelda are going to date for eight months, three weeks, five days, and one hour, and the show gives the entire story of their relationship from beginning to end. The series premiere is on October 2.

Allegiance

The hour-long drama Allegiance is about a CIA agent specializing in Russian issues who learns that his parents are former Russian KGB spies who have been retired for decades, living peacefully in the U.S. KGB agent Katya fell in love with American businessman slash spy for Russia Mark, and was allowed to move to America with him in return for the promise that she would be available to help the Kremlin should her country so desire. Years later, when the Russians surprisingly decide to reactivate the spies for a terrorist mission designed to "bring America to its knees," Alex's parents have to choose whether to turn Alex into a spy for Russia or risk the wrath of their home country.

Aquarius

Aquarius stars Californication's David Duchovny as a cop during the 1960s who ends up getting caught up in the Manson family murders when he's asked by a respected lawyer and personal friend to investigate the disappearance of the lawyer's daughter. That investigation leads him to the cult run by Manson, where the psychopath collects disenfranchised hippie women and convinces them to join his cause through a mixture of hallucinogenic drugs and his strange charisma. Duchovny's character, along with the help of a deputy who better fits in with the hippie crowd, investigates the Manson family in the time leading up to the Tate-LaBianca murders.

Emerald City

Emerald City is a modern retelling of The Wizard of Oz, with a 20-year-old Dorothy getting sucked up into a tornado and dropped into a fantasy realm after breaking into a top secret storage facility of some kind searching for clues about the identity of her biological mother. This Dorothy is described as "a headstrong warrior" and Oz promises to be a more sinister place than you remember from the 1939 original. NBC says the show will be a "dark and epic reimagining of the worlds created by Frank L. Baum," so details from the fourteen-book novel series not present in the classic film could pop up as well.

Mission Control

This half-hour comedy looks like it will be part Mad Men and part Big Bang Theory. Mission Control stars Krysten Ritter (Don't Trust the B—- in Apartment 23) as the only woman on a team of aerospace engineers and other scientists working to get the first man to the moon during the space race in the 1960s. She is the brilliant leader of a team of NASA's finest, but she has a lot of sexism to deal with in her job, especially when her boss adds a macho former pilot to co-lead the team.

Mr. Robinson

Comedian Craig Robinson stars on this half-hour comedy that promises to basically be the TV version of Jack Black's School of Rock. Robinson plays an aspiring rock musician who takes on a job as a substitute teacher to pay the bills. At first he thinks subbing is the perfect way to get paid while sleeping off the previous night's indulgences, but eventually the kids inspire him to teach them about music and his crush on the hot English teacher makes him clean up his act enough to not get fired. Interestingly, Nickelodeon has recently ordered its own small-screen version of School of Rock, The Los Angeles Times reports, which is scheduled to premiere next spring.

Odyssey

Odyssey is a one-hour war drama compared to Traffic starring Anna Friel as female soldier Odelle Ballard, who's the only living witness to a massive conspiracy involving an American company funding Al Quaeda. The rest of Ballard's unit is assassinated by U.S. Special Forces who don't want the conspiracy uncovered after the unit discovers computer files proving that the U.S. company is funding jihadists. Ballard is reported dead as an attempt to keep the issue covered up, and while she's fighting to escape imprisonment in the Middle East some people in the U.S. are also starting to realize what's going on with the conspiracy, including a political activist and a talented hacker.

One Big Happy

One Big Happy is another take on the 'alternative family' trend made popular by ABC's Modern Family. It stars Elisha Cuthbert as Lizzy, a lesbian who's trying to artificially conceive a baby with her childhood best friend, Luke, who is also her roommate. Having stuck together through thick and thin since they were kids, the single Lizzy and Luke decide that they would make great parents despite not having a sexual relationship. Things get even more complicated when Luke ends up in a whirlwind romance with a sexy Brit named Prudence, who he convinces to stay in America by marrying her at the same time Lizzy discovers she's pregnant. The three then must make their own version of a family.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

This new comedy, produced by 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, is about a former cult member named Kimmy, who is rescued after fifteen years of being brainwashed by a crazy religious leader. Once she's free, Kimmy decides to stay in New York City after an appearance discussing her experience in the cult on The Today Show. She rents a room from a man named Titus who makes his living playing a robot on Times Square, becomes a nanny for a wealthy family on the Upper East Side, and embraces her new life with optimism. The Office's Ellie Kemper stars in a role that's compared to a modern day Mary Tyler Moore.
